As far as checking things out to fix, hoses, belts, battery cables, lights, load test batteries, test glow plugs, check out block heater, inspect U joints, brake shoes and pads, check out fluid levels, check out ball joints, grease everything that has a zerk.
If your luck is like mine, what ever breaks will be at exactly the wrong time.
So replacing anything that looks worn when you have time and money sure beats changing it because you needed the truck running 30 minutes ago.

Excellant advice I have never broke anything when I didn't need it.
