EBPS is bad?????

Is there a way to test the EBPS before I but a new one??? The I have a 00 Exc. that the power is a lot less than it was and the mileage is about 10-11 mpg. I took off the sensor and it did have soot in it, but I cleaned it out, put it back in and no difference. Any help would be great!!!

If it is bad, you might get a P0475 fault code..

Make sure there's no holes in the sensor tube itself, they do get rust holes in them. As for the sensor that has the prongs where it plugs in, be careful picking around it there, you can damage the sealed area in there leading to failure. Have you checked other causes in MPG loss, dirty fuel filter, oil change, dirty air filter ect??

I have installed the 6637 mod, new fuel filter. I may have damaged the sensor by banging it on a table to get the soot out??? Is there a way to test the sensor before I buy a new one??? Not throwing any codes.

Banging it on the table wasn't a good thing thats for sure. As for testing it, not sure on that one, just seen people on here replace the whole assembly, steel tube and sensor..

AE or a compatible scanner will read exhaust back pressure.

The EBPS has an integrated circuit in it (as most the 7.3 sensors do) and banging it on the table would be a big No-No.

I bought one on Ebay. You may not have damaged it but you would have to check EBP with a sanner to be sure. If you can't get a free scan compare the cost of a new sensor vs the cost of a sacn.

The Edge may read DTCs but it is not going to read sensor parameters.

i also have the evolution and it will monitor that sensor and show the pressure. mine reads around 15 but it depends on where you live cause it measuring the pressure differential between the outside air and the inside the maniflold pressure.

I stand corrected. What other parameters will the Edge Evolution read? Could be a good diagnostic tool.
