Air filter light?

Sup guys,

My first post, I just got my first truck, 2002 F250. The air filter light stays on, i replaced the engine air filter, but the orange light is still on. Is there something i can do to turn it off, or do i need to take it to dealer.

BTW i love the truck, especially the sound of diesel engine i wish i got one sooner.

Thanks,
Ice

Welcome to FTE

Check the wire that plugs into the restriction gauge on the air box. That needs to be plugged in and reset.

Would you happen to have posted a thread on Plowsite about this problem? I know there was a thread about an 02 F250 7.3 and I mentioned FTE.

If that's you welcome to FTE glad you took my advice. You won't regret it.

Now let's get you talking to Clay ^^ at Riffraff so we can make that diesel sound a little sweeter and move a lot quicker.

And if that's not you over on plowsite then welcome to FTE anyways.

Yes its me, this is a small world man. Rocket i love the truck man, me and my dad are doing little work on it and fixing things but its getting better every day. We changed the front and back brakes over the weekend and man what difference.

Riffraff i will do that, i did not check for the wires, i thought it just needed a new filter. Ill check in the morning and keep you guys posted.

Yup. Make sure you press the little button on the end of the filter minder/restriction gauge whatever you want to call it. Could be part of your issue like Clay said.

BTW you ought to spend some time here you'll like it. If you head on down to the General non-automotive section we've got a BS thread entitled "Part VI" you should stop in and say hi.

That's exactly what I was gonna suggest.

Mine is always on because the AFE stage 1 I have can't keep up with the 38R. I need to pull it off and sell it. I'll probably replace it with the S&B kit Clay told me about back in July.

If you have a 2 wire connector plugged into the filter minder then yes. My E99 does not have a light. No connector.

Being in Medford you could hit Clay of Riffraff with a rock. He's in Eagle Point. You should get in touch with him.

I cracked the plastic of my air filter minder housing and thought I could just unplug it and low and behold, the light came on. I just taped over the hole in the intake and left the minder plugged in and zipped tied to the brake booster until I can find another filter minder.

Sup guys,

I went and took a look at the restriction gauge, the two cables are plugged in, however i could not find that switch to reset? Should i just replace the restriction gauge? That seems like a simple fix, not sure.

Just push the rest button on the end of the gauge. The spring loaded plastic thingy in the body of the gauge will retract.

The filter minder has a bit of like a rubber button on the end. It's more difficult to explain how to do it than to do it.

Basically just stick your finger on the end of the filter minder that is sticking out and push. You'll get the idea.

Or if you wanna take care of it forever just put a 6637 in there and let your truck breathe a little easier.
