Talking Will a Ford starter solenoid work for a Glow Plug Controler?

I have owned many gas Ford trucks in my day, I have a new to me 95 F250 4x2 single cab 7.3L Powerstroke with a 5 speed manual. After reading the post in this section I dont recall seeing if anybody has ever just tried using a plain ole Ford starter Solenoid. They are cheep and just about ever parts house has several in stock. My truck does the same "Hard Start" in the mornings when its cold but I plug mine up and wait a while and she fires right up! So are these two items the same thing or are they diffrent they look identical to one another I am aware that the insides of them could be diffrent or they are both rated for diffrent amps or voltage. Has anyone tried this?

Don't do it the wrong solenoid can fuse and stick in the on position, you would have a expensive repair ifn that happened,,,,,,,,,, the right part is the right part.....

Starter solenoids are case grounded, a GPR is case isolated , the PCM sends the ground & controls the on time based on EOT..

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for just the glow plug system that they can share with me? I would like to study this system and learn more about it. Or do yall know of a website that has that I can go look at?

I thought I had taken pictures of when I replaced my harnesses... but I can't find them.

The most common problem with the wiring is the pins on the valve cover gasket plugs. Or the actuall wiring under the valve covers that goes to the glowplugs and injectors. I'd check all the plugs (two on each valve cover) and check for burnt pins first. You might just have some bad glowplugs also. There's a ohm test you can do on them to check if they are bad but I don't remember the details on it.

Look into a Stancor 586-902 relay. Should be the last GPR your truck will ever need.

OEM uses gpr110 glow plug relay from NAPA, I've used GPR 109, its cheaper and I got 4 years out of it when it died.
