4" or 5" exhaust

Is it worth the extra $$ to get the 5" turbo back vs. 4". I am looking at Magnaflow for $528 including shipping and a tip from 2003-2007 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY PICKUP V8 6.0L 363CI - MGF15956~632 . Also I cannot find a Magnaflow that exhausts out the side like the stock pipe. The new ones seem to go out the back. Why is this?

Unless you are building up the engine for power (not just tuner and bolt on stuff), then a 4" is what you want.

I think all the Magnaflow exit out the side. The picture shown there is just for parts identification, not an actual depiction of the layout.

Here is the real Magnaflow site:
The Official Site of MagnaFlow Exhaust Products - Exhaust Systems For Trucks, Suv's, American Muscle, Diesel, & Sport Compact Vehicles

Go there to pick out a part number, and it has a spec for exit location.

Don't know the specifics of your truck, but if the XL product line is what you want, I think this is the part number you need:

Agreed. You will actually lose low end hp/tq with using a bigger exhaust. You won't be flowing enough air and fuel to quickly get that exhaust gas out of the pipe quickly unless you do some turbo/injector modification or really overfuel with custom tunes(which I would not advocate) to warrant the bigger exhaust. There are going to be a lot of naysayers to this, but it's been shown again and again that less is more in this case.

4" is good but if your looking for big black smoke and you want to really fog up an intersection go with the 5"

Once again, even if that is what "you" are wanting to accomplish, you don't have to go with 5". Just get a custom smoke tune and that will pump out all the fuel that stock injectors can do(something that off the shelf tuners can only go so far at doing, while a custom tune can tweak it even further).

"You" really gain nothing and lose somethings with going to a 5" if you are like 90% of the truck owning population.

I, however, would not advocate trying to smoke out intersections on various levels, but I'll leave my soapbox for another discussion.

To the OP: you didn't post that you were interested in doing this mod, but I figured I would try to lean you away from it(if you already aren't against it) and that is don't get an a/m intake, another waste of money, however, it's even worse waste of money then going to the 5".

I know the stock is plenty adequate. I will smoke intersections with my Cummins. Thanks to all for info on this, going with the 4".
