power windows/locks
hey fellas, me again. can anyone explain by color code what each of the the wires in the harness does. i got some fresh doors for the old 87 ranger, but they have elec. windows/locks so now i have to wire them up. any help would be great. thanks

Don't know what year the replacement doors are, but maybe try a Haynes manual, or the library for a repair manual that covers your year.
Don't know if repair CD's for that year are available on the net or not.
I have a Haynes for years 93-99, but don't know if the color codes are the same.
You could rig a battery charger to power the windows & locks, to make sure they work, before installing the doors.

my ranger is '87, the doors came from '87 bronco. oddly, both doors have the same number of wires, i would think the left should have more since it also controls the right side. but here are the colors. pink/orange - pink/green - pink/black - pink/yellow - red/black - blue/black - yellow/black - black. 8 wires each side, same colors each side.

Well 3 of the colors are different, red/black, blue/black, yellow/black, so I'm no help, but 87 XLT has a better deal anyway.

87 XLT , got your mailing and, wow, those are good diagrams. helps a good deal. thanks very much. sorry about the lag time in my response, my comp is busted so i have to borrow my sisters laptop which makes my time online limited. thanks again and if i can figure out how to post some pics here i'll show ya the ranger with the bronco suspension.

Unfortunately i'm going to have to sell my 87 Ranger.
My dear wife thinks it would be much better to have 2 vehicles with slugomatics, and of course my Ranger is a 5 speed which she cant drive. Oh well.
Anyways good luck with the locks & windows project.
