I had a Mustang built for my wife and it was 9 weeks from placement of order until I drove off the lot with her. BUT this is because there are a lot of aftermarket "items" put on the car that after initial construction have to be done. From what I was told that is done at a different plant. It took five days to get from Michigan to AZ. The one thing I found out was that my salesman/Dealership's Manager (Because of the special order) was the one to take the car out and "shake it down"

After reading the rest of your post, I would state that you will do the deal later as I doubt you will have any time with the truck before your are redeployed.

P.S. Thank you for your service.

My window sticker was available online right after Christmas but has disappeared for the past week. I'm predicting my build has been delayed.

Ok, so I'm now home until the end of the month. I went to a couple dealers today and told them my plight... They offered me a comparable deal on a very similar truck, so I went for it and I get to pick it up tomorrow. It has more options than I actually wanted, but the color is different (ingot silver rather than Blue flame). I still haven't seen it yet (tomorrow AM). So looks like I get to drive my new truck while I'm home after all. Felt good canceling the other order, telling them it is because they sat on the order for so long.

I don't know if its the time zone change or the anticipation of picking up the truck in the morning, but I can't sleep. It's 130 AM and I'm sitting on my couch with my two big dogs on either side of me, typing quietly as to not wake up the wife and chillens.
So now the wife and I are thinking about taking the new truck down south to see my parents/grandparents, etc. What is the break in period as far as taking them on a long road trip?

Since you're up - go to https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp download a manual and read up!

BREAKING-IN YOUR VEHICLE
Your vehicle does not need an extensive break-in. Try not to drive
continuously at the same speed for the first 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of
new vehicle operation. Vary your speed frequently in order to give the
moving parts a chance to break in.
Drive your new vehicle at least 1,000 miles (1,600 km) before towing a
trailer. For more detailed information about towing a trailer, refer to
Trailer towing
in the Tires, Wheels and Loading chapter.
Do not add friction modifier compounds or special break-in oils since
these additives may prevent piston ring seating. See
Engine oil in the

Maintenance and Specifications
chapter for more information on oil

usage.

went to the dealer today and finished all the papers, but couldn't get the truck because the other dealer that has the truck doesn't do swaps on the weekend, so I have to wait until monday now. Still a lot better than the end of the month. I also got the 7 year/75,000 warranty as well as a spray in liner. The wife and I have been going over the options list and this truck has quite a bit more than the original truck we ordered... I think we'll be very happy with it.
