yeah, that would be optimal, but I'm not holding mt breath...BTW... what is the break in period/procedure for these new trucks? Wife and I were thinking about traveling to see my folks while I'm home.
How long does it normally take between the factory getting the build request and assigning a production week? I keep checking on the website I was given, and no production week is listed yet... Can I get ahold of the factory and ask them? I have the build number, but no VIN yet. They are admittedly kind of slow updating thier website, so there very well may be a date assignd, but my people haven't put it on thier site yet.
Does the factory shut down on weekends?
Because I ordered my truck through the dealer my sales person has been able to check on the status.
As I stated before, ordered on Nov. 4th, scheduled to build on Dec. 7th. I talked to her yesterday and the status changed to "bucked" for Dec. 8th.
Bucked is when the actual frame and body are mounted to the fixtures that they ride on for assembly.
Hey wheres Dearborn Derick?
Stephen - what's the secret web site you mention? Do you need CIA or KJB clearance? I'm in the same situation you are awaiting my VIN.
Funny you mention a clearance...
I ordered my truck through the Exchange New Car Sales program in Iraq, so with my customer # I can go to ENCS.com and track my order. I checked again today and still no production week... I'll keep checking
Damn! That's a long way to go to get a discount. Hopefully it comes in when you need it to and comes in perfectly. You deserve it for all you do there!
I just got my VIN too! How long now? That means its at least a rolling shissis, right? Only takes a few days to build right? Then how long to ship to WA state? How do you decode the VIN... want to ensure everything is the way I want it...
Things are looking up! I've been dealing with some legal issues with a paint shop about my mustang, so I've been real stressed out lately, but the knowledge that I will have my new wheels when I get home makes it all ok... BTW, should have the stang done too... again...it's a long story
Getting a VIN assignment simply means that the factory has pulled the order. That puts you at about a week or so away from the actual build, if it follows a cycle similar to the Super Duties. (Super Duty orders are pulled from the order bank on Thursday of each week. They are then produced in the following work week.)
As for decoding the VIN, Ford has an online tool for this that works with newer vehicles:
http ://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin= < Insert VIN # after the = (no space) >
Having ordered a couple of trucks, it generally takes longer to have them delivered than to be built.
Just my luck! I use that site and get.........."We are temporarily unable to retrieve an online window sticker for this vehicle. Please try again later.
If the problem persists, please contact the help desk for this web site."
My f150 is scheduled to be built Dec 18 and I just got the window sticker yesterday so hopefully it won't be too long for yours. I was getting the same reply as you.
I got an email today saying my truck is not scheduled to be built in the second week of January... Maybe they are just giving themselves some time for any "what ifs"... I sure hope it doesn't take that long... That will be pushing it for being delivered while I am home. If I got the VIN last week, then it could REALLY be built this week, right? I got the email from my sales people, not Ford.
