For something as irritating as that, I would be putting a gel-cel battery behind the seat to power the head unit with it being powered up all the time.
Then recharge that battery with an isolator relay that kills the connection between the vehicle's main system and the auxiliary system.
Basically the same connection as an RV battery.
Yeah, I've considered doing something about it. It's a nuisance for sure but to be honest, I haven't taken the time to look through the manual to see if it can be disabled. It might also have something to do with me permanently grounding out the parking brake detection wire so I can use all the nav and bluetooth phone features while moving. One of these days I'll get around to "fixing" it.
My truck came with a Sony head unit, 2 amps, a pair of Kicker 12" woofers in a box behind the back seat and kicker 6" speakers in the front doors. I hated the head unit so I replaced it with the Eclipse AVN726e (ECLIPSE DVD-Video/USB Multi-Source Receiver/ 7inch Wide Screen Monitor/Navigation/ Built-in Bluetooth wireless technology AVN726E | Fujitsu Ten) and I've been pretty happy with it. I had to do a little trimming on the back side of the dash to get it to fit but nothing to the front so it looks like it belongs there. My only complaint about it is that everytime I start the truck up, I have to go to the Navigation page and tell it I Agree to the "don't use this while driving, etc." page in order for it to aquire a GPS fix and tell me what time it is. Other than that, the Bluetooth works great and the sound quality is good.
I have this same issue with my gps. It really doesnt drive me too crazy because i dont use my gps that often
Here's what i did a while back... People don't believe i have only two 10's it hits pretty hard.. Maybe the sound proofing and expensive subs with clean power helps.. But i have a different headunit now. Pioneer speakers too, um Ts-A6881 i believe off the top of my head

How much of a difference did the sound deadening do?? I have been tossing around the idea of doing the same thing...
Oh it was amazing! You can barely hear the bass from outside the truck, even when the inside is too much to comfortably listen to.. and it cut down on any vibrating noise.. I have two high quality 10's set up with clean power and a nice amp, and with my sound deadening material, some friends with 2x12's and even 3x12's think my subs hit harder and cleaner. I liked the idea so much that when i had the engine out the last time i put it on the firewall after clearancing a few things...
