Hi all,
I've been thinking about upgrading the stock sound system in my truck. I have the optional 6 disk changer, with the stock speakers. What are the options for upgrades? Better speakers? Subwoofer?
Thanks
I have not changed the speakers yet but had to replace the factory radio when it ate 6 cd's.I have a single cd Sony in it now.
Boy the inside of that 6 disc changer is wild with all the moving parts
I went from the factory single cd unit to a Kenwood ddx512 with navigation and now the headunit is two powerful for the stock speakers. Im thinking about going with kenwood 6"x8" plate componets from onlinecarstereo.com

I have the same thing with navigation, blue tooth, and Satellite radio. I absolutely love it.
I just went on Ebay and searched for stuff. I got 2 sets of Pioneer speakers for like $60. They are working out well with the stock CD player. Eventually I would like to upgrade the head unit and maybe add a sub, but for now the 4 Pioneers work just fine.
Will new speakers sound better than stock even with the stock head unit and without a sub? How about new speakers and an enclosed sub, like a Bazooka?
Speakers make the most difference.
They are like good tires.
All the HP in the world won't make a difference if you cannot get the power to the ground.
The speakers are the last step between the stereo and your ears.
Upgrade the speakers first, then decide if you want to do something more.
I recommend a good set of triaxials along with a good sub. IMO they produce the best sound.
Jack the speakers are much better over stock. They have a pretty good amount of low end sound, and they get plenty loud enough. BTW, I got both pairs including shipping for like $70. All I did was match the part number on somewhere like Crutchfield so I knew what I was getting.
Thanks Chris.
Hey Dan, I'm having trouble finding many triaxial speakers. Can you link me to a few, or give me a couple of examples? Also, will one of the sub/amp combos like Bazooka cut it? Or are they a waste of money?
