Auxiliary port
Auxiliary port
Is there a port off the back of my stock radio (2006 F150) that I can use to connect an external device. I have a single CD factory radio with Sirius. I'm thinking I can put a connection port beside the cigarette lighter, which will allow me to play my iPod through the car speakers. But, I will need to be able to connect this port to the back of the radio somehow.
There was a great thread on this a while ago.

What you'll need is:
Precision Interface Electronics FRD04-AUX Adapter Add an auxiliary input to your 2004-up Ford factory stereo at Crutchfield.com
I just did this mod but instead of using a 1/8 " input I used a cable that plugs into the bottom and charges at the same time. I cut part of my ashtray out and fed the cable through there, so the iPod sits in there nicely and I can close it when I want. I found everything I needed on Ebay. Word of advice, when you do this mod and you take apart the dash watch you don't wreck the little connector for the airbag light.

I used the connector in the first picture on this page of the thread:

Both the adapter and the cable can be found on ebay. You don't have the do it the way I did it, alot of guys just used the 1/8 inch input (which can also be found on ebay), but I wanted mine to charge at the same time. I tied both the power and ground cables into the power and ground cables of my cigarette lighter. If you use the cable I used Im sure you can rig some sort of bracket up but you've gotta be creative. I cut sections out of my ashtray with a dremel, and fed the cable into it. I didn't make a stand for it though which is nice because I can lay the iPod into the ashtray and close it for that nice clean look. Word of advice: there are only two screws holding in ashtray assembly then it slides out upwards. I was confused as hell because I took out both screws and it was rock solid in place, then I later found out there was some glue holding it in too. I think it was for anti rattle purposes, so I put a tiny dab of silicone on when I put it back in.
