i have a 2003 f-350 with a 6.0 automatic 4x4. the truck is all stock. it used to have a chip in it when i bought it in june 2009 but the icp sensor was leaking oil when i bought it so i had it replaced and since it was at ford i had them reflash the pcm to get rid of the chip. ANYWAY...problem started about 2 months ago that when i would start the truck in the morning it would idle a little rough until warmed up then everything ran great. the problem was getting slowly worse as time went on but was torleable because i always let the truck warm up to FULL operating temprature before driving. on NOv 18, 2009 i took the truck into ford for fuel filters and oil change(i do every 7000 miles on both). now the thing almost as soon as i left the dealership acts like it's dropping cylinders. low on power, feels like a a gas engine car that someone has pulled a spark plug wire or 2 off of, idles very rough all the time to. NO CEL. had the batteries go bad on me oct 12, and then the alternator nov 7. just cleaned the 6 month old FORD EGR last night and made no diff. 155k on the truck. i do not have a scan tool that works at my disposal at the current time. Please give me some sort of idea as to what to expect from the dealership.
Failed batteries and alternator will frequently cause the Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM) to fail. I have heard of charges varying from $900 to $1100 from the dealership to replace the FICM and program it.
There are cheaper alternatives if you want to do some wrenching and possibly some "touchy" electronics work yourself.
Sounds like it could be the ficm. I got a cel on mine that was giving a misfire on several injectors. I had to replace mine back earlier this year, being out of warrranty i was able to find one that come off a wrecked 07 for $400. Took about 30 minutes to put on and has been fine since.

i went out to drive the truck tonight even though i didn't want to with the missfire thing going on...turned the key on let it sit a minute hit the key to start...fired up for about 2 seconds then died. now it wont start at all...cranks but no fire. no smoke out tail pipe, fuel pump on frame rail runs, fuel filter housing on engine full, injectors buzz with KOEO, logic fuse for FICM is good and has power, but no fire what so ever...it's like the fuel isn't coming out of the injectors at all. doesn't even seem like it wants to hit...just a dead crank. Do you guys still think its the FICM...i can get a reman unit from orielly with my commercial discount @ $385 with one year warranty but i'll have to get it programmed at the dealer i think unless someone on here does it somewhat close to springfield IL. Thanks again
You mentioned you had the ICP sensor replaced because it was leaking oil. Did you have the ICP harness connector replaced at the same time? Could be you had oil get into your harness pigtail and it's now causing a problem where the ICP pressure signal isn't getting to the PCM.
yes i was just going over my invoice of the icp sensor replacement and it does say that a new pigtail was installed but it says nothing about the harness...I know you can remove the pins and replace just the pigtail alone but i wouldn't think this could be cause from that problem for the only fact of it was done in june and evrything was fine until about middle to late september. thats when i started having the light missfire after i would first start up in the morning.
