My 66 has the standard lovely white grill, but in good shape. I have found a nice aluminum grill on an old farm truck that probably hasnt moved since the mid 70's. My truck is an F 100, the farm truck is an F 350, according to my tape measure it will fit. Anyone know a reason why it wouldnt?

C6TZ8200B .. Anodized Aluminum Grille
Fits: 1966 (and 1965 *) F100/250/350/500/600/750.
* Ford replaced the 1965 grilles in September 1965 with 1966 grilles for use as service part replacements.
In other words, you could not get 1965 grilles after 9/1965 from FoMoCo. This is the major reason why 1965 grilles are hard to find.
Thanks, I just got the truck saturday. The 61 has a 64 white steel grill, it looked horrid so I repainted it black Sunday. Now i'm thinking of saving the money to have it chromed. Or maybe chrome headlight bezels, then paint the 8 "floating rectangles" with chrome paint.
Sorry to make the purists cringe, I do like stock restorations too. But this is my first Rod in over 25 years since high school and i'm gonna butcher it like we used to do muscle cars......lol.....kidding
This longbed Uni has a body that just begs to be customized. No emblems, no trim and I can't wait to replace those gommy trailer mirrors with peeps!
If decide to go for it use caution removing, reanodizing the alum grille is expensive.
Soooo... is the grill not made of aluminum but steel with a paper thin layer of aluminum over it? I was wanting aluminum because it doesn't rust and is easy to polish, but this may change everything!
The alum grile consist of a low grade alum. alloy and anodized to protect the alum from oxidizing. The std. cab has the steel grille been told by plater if considering chroming the steel grille would be better suited. With the alum grille, once the anodize is removed the alum will be exposed to the elements and subject to tarnish in relatively short period of time. Polish will preserve the alum for period of time, but I am basically lazy and find regular wash and polishing my trucks too labor intensive so decided to apply a clear coat once the grille was polished. I went with a dull sheen IMO looks more original than gloss, but matter of personal preference. Keep in mind, with the Custom Cab the headlight, and turnsignal trim is also anodized alum. The 65 grille was done 5-6 yrs ago and looks like it's time to do it again, likely check into cost to have the grille powder coated.
