Hi folks, I just replaced my fuel pump on my 1977 Ford F250 2WD 460ci and the new fuel pump does not have the fuel filter attached to the pump. I want to put in a inline fuel filter; what type do you recommend and where in the fuel line should I put it?
i have a fram G-2 inline fiter right before the fuel pump, and the second is in the stock location. When i bought the truck the fram filter was on top of the intake manifold right before the carburator. But with the fram filter's the engine heat is litterally bending, almost melting it in a way. Even after moving it underneath the truck, in the location that it is in now. So Next time, i'm gonna switch to reuseable ones from Mr. Gasket
I would stay away from the glass filters. I have heard of them getting broke more then once. I would go with the plastic see through or the metal ones.
I really like mounting a plastic see through filter at the fuel tank. Anytime I am working under the truck, I check it to see how much trash it has collected and replace it often. Plastic should not be used anywhere near an engine.
