I just finished replacing all 8 glow plugs with the Beru plugs and ended up changing the module and relay also. I've seen where the WTS light is supposed to stay on about 10 seconds but mine seems to stay on about 15 seconds the first time I start the truck and it's cold. Am I going to burn up the glow plugs?
Also when I had the CDR off to get to the GP module, I checked and no matter which end I blew into there wasn't any resistance. No air compressors just blew in to the CDR with my mouth and no resistance. Do I have a bad CDR?
When the vacuum from the intake gets high enough, the diphram gets sucked toward the intake side hole and a metal plate blocks the port so the engie oil stays in the engine.
On the oposite side of the CDR from the intake connection, there is a small hole.
With your mouth you can blow air in the little hole and you finger in the intake side hole you will feel the diaphram move.
If you have no resistance to air blown in the small hole, the diaphram is ruptured and you need a new CDR.
After I ran the truck about an hour this afternoon and it was well warmed up, I shut it off. When I turned the key getting ready to start it again after about 30 seconds, the WTS light never came on. Is this normal? After letting it sit for about 1/2 hour the WTS light came on for about 5 seconds then started normally. Before I changed everything, the WTS light would at least come on if only for a second or two. Is this normal or is something about to happen that I won't like, like not starting?
whats the temp where you are now?
im having the same long 15 WTS seconds for the first time too at only 35-40 degrees.(my tech book says this is normal, but when its -20!! lol)
(but im still not starting inside 5 seconds.takes me 15-20 seconds of cranking.somethings wrong.)
when the trucks warm,i do know the gp's dont even turn on, on my dads '08 6.4 after its been run.
so i think this is normal.
it senses the resistance, thus is knows its warm and doesn't cycle the gp's simply because they are not needed.you simply hop in and start it up,within the hr of shut down during this fall.
when your truck is still warm, and you have no WTS light when you go to start it next time, does she just start right up?
if so.your golden!(minus the long first cold 15 sec time.if its above -20 lol)
The GP controller senses engine temp and operates accordingly. Hot engines don't need GP so no light. Cold engine needs GP lots of light. And anything in between, Hopefully.
