One of my uncles has an 05-08 F150 with about 50k miles on it and it's having a problem with the odometer and radio. He will be driving down the road and the odometer and radio will both quit working at the same time. They stay off anywhere from 10 minutes to a month. It doesn't affect anything else when they go out, but they both go out and come back at the exact same time every time. Any one else had this happen or have any ideas??
Check for loose electrical connections in under the hood and at the battery. Also get that battery checked out. All sorts of weird things happen when the battery starts acting up, even when the truck runs and starts fine.

It will probably be around thanksgiving or christmas before I see him again. He lives in South Carolina and I'm in Tennessee. He came to visit about a month or two ago and I noticed it when I was driving his truck. He said it's been doing it ever since he's had it(bought it brand new), he just hasn't been too worried about fixing it.
My first thought was that the radio and odometer shouldn't be ran off the same connection or set of wires, so possibly two wires touching and shorting each other out. Possibly leading to an electrical fire under his dash. Those are the only two things affected by it though. Interior lights, door locks, power windows, horn, etc. Everything electrical works fine. I'm not familiar with the wiring on this body stile, so I didn't want to start an all day job of chasing down wires if it's something as simple as a loose connection somewhere.
