I just painted my frame. I didn't do anything fancy but my truck rarely even sees rain so I'm sure it will last a long time. I pulled the bed and set it upside down. Six of my bed bolts came right out, I had to cut two of them. Then I just took a wire wheel on a grinder to the bottom of the bed floor and all over the frame, axles, springs, bottom of cab etc, etc. Then I pressure washed everything and painted it out of a gun. I used a gallon of black paint called rust kill. It was only $25 for the whole gallon. Looks great.

I've used Rustoleum, POR 15 and bed liner. Worst of the lot is Rustoleum. Lasted less than a summer. POR 15 has been either great or sucks. Very finicky material. Bed liner worked well. The key is the preparation for whatever you decide to use. sandblast first. Use one of the numerous formulas that lock in the rust. Then use your desired product.
