A few things to consider

My experience here at FTE has been almost completely positive. However, though we/FTE 7.3 tend to claim we/FTE 7.3 are friendly, kind and not at all like other sites, I think we/FTE 7.3 need to take a look at how threads have been going for a while now.

My opinion:

This place has become just as cliquish as most I visit. Actually more than one of them. Polite, but cliquish. Just because we/FTE 7.3 don't cuss or call people stupid doesn't mean it isn't happening.

I have more but it would be counter productive.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

This forum has been around for over ten years. From the time it was first birthed it has been the same. Many of the members of this particular forum like it very much the way it is. There's a sense of family here from the technical postings, to the rep points given for help or just cuz you want to. There's not many forums out there that is like this one. Proud to be apart of it.

Jason you're a nice guy. Good post, but not all will agree and I certainly do not.

Diane

Well, I haven't really given the other Ford forums an honest go, so I can't even say what they are like. I do see forums in other genres other than trucks and have to say what I see here seems pretty unique. I have honestly made great friends through this site, and have personally met many of them. I look forward to meeting many more in the future. I think I sometimes see what I think you are talking about, but it usually seems more of defensive positions to friends than out right attacks? I dunno. There will always be people in off moods saying something to ruffle feathers, and I am guilty of that sometimes too, but all in all, I really like what we have here. We all have different tastes, and like to voice our opinions, usually without resorting to childish stabs, which to me makes this site interesting and productive. Cheers.

Remember, I said "has been almost completely positive" which I consider a very good grade for anything. But yes, I'm sure there are a bunch on here who have had a 100% positive experience so would also have to disagree with me.

My motivation is positive.....

I actually *do* agree with him. Except I think everyone in this particular 7.3 sub-forum is (or can easily be in) the clique. I have noticed even just going out of this sub-forum that there are some attitudes. I feel I can say almost whatever I want here, make mistakes, get *friendly* corrections (give them too!), and not feel patronized or belittled.

I'll give an example or two, just because I think it's more fair than making empty observations. Here's one: Try talking about the 7.3 in the general SuperDuty forum -- you'll get all kinds of grief -- I have. I have also tried making light of the situation, to no avail. Since then, I just avoid it unless I really have something important to say there. Same in the Ex forum. I was there just recently discussing the deep trans pan and saw a lot of jabs taking place. That generally doesn't happen in this particular sub-forum...

I dont understand the point of this thread except to bring up a subject matter that is non productive all together...

I always see alot of "thank you" threads here and not on other sites. I dont think anyone here has ever put down other sites. Which makes me wonder why you posted this thread...

I will take the risk of assuming that this thread will turn into a debate which will take time away from important threads.

i agree with Izzy except with a different sub-forum. The 78-96 bronco forum, since i am also a proud bronco owner. They tend to pounce on you if you word something wrongly or even yet not hold the same opinion they do. Everyone here in the 7.3 forum has welcomed me nicely and thank you for doing so. Im by no means complaining just giving my .02. thanks again

The main point is above your post. I dig this place so was pointing something out for the positive. I didn't think I could be any more positive than "My experience here at FTE has been almost completely positive". Pictures maybe

Looks like you are saying that we think we are better then other sites but really we are not...

On Edit: Either way i dont see the point in making a thread about this...

I have to agree with Jason on this one. There are major bandwagons here just as there are on other places. Not the mudslinging that the other sight (that I don't belong to) has, but it's still cliquish.

There are 2 forum sites I belong to, this being one of them. Both are friendly and mostly polite. However, there are times that I feel both have another very important trait. When there are good very in-depth discussions being started that are on the verge of being controversial, they are diverted, shut down, or dismissed because it "might" question the general concensus of beliefs or views about particular modifications or add-ons. When I say that these discussions are dismissed or diverted, it is often times because other forum members, mods, or sponsors do not want to hear what is being said, don't believe it, or feel that it's "bashing".

I notice this more on the other site I'm on, but one particular moderator will change other user's posts, or delete them completely if he personally doesn't like they way the thread is headed. That I don't agree with. I haven't noticed that on FTE.

As for Jason's stance on this issue, I read a thread started by him earlier today that, to me, was FAR from negative or disrespectiful to bring up. I thought he asked a simple question and followed up with a proper response as to why he asked it. Yes, he referenced a thread from "that other site" (or at least I assumed it was that other site), but didn't say anything more. However, his reasonings were taken into question and thought to be stirring up trouble. I feel that was because of what Jason HAD in his sig. It also appeared to me that Darrell felt the way he did because the thread on PSN (if it's the one I heard about) deals with a mod that Jason used to run and the mods that he runs now (that were in his sig).

With all that being said, please don't get me wrong. I really enjoy FTE and am glad to be a part of it. I've learned a ton of great info here and hope to continue to learn. I'll definitely be a part of it for years to come hopefully. There are sometimes though, I've got to weed thru the sludge to get to the good stuff.

How many times do you see here? almost never.

I love this site because there is lots of mutual respect, and also lots of fun. If everyone read the effing manual all day long, there would be no point in having a forum.

Jason - I'm also confused on the point your trying to make help me understand.
