What Distributor Do I Have

I have a 66 F100 with a 352 in it. I bought a distributor cap and rotor and they would not work with the distributor. The distributor is not stock. I would like to buy a new distributor cap and rotor and not sure what to buy. Possbily some one can help me out with this issue. I have the numbers that are on the side of the distributor.

D5TE 12127 EA

5K8

Thanks

Didn't the Duraspark begin to see use in Ford trucks around 1975-76 with the D5TE ID date and app...?

Came across link may find helpful: Check out ND's note #3

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...-72-fe390.html

Installed Duraspark ll in 65 from 76 donor. Make sure to confirm and cross reference P/N. Ended up using Napa Parts.

Electrontic Ign. Distributor: Napa P#: 48-2897
Rotor:FAI44
Duraspark II Module: Napa P#:TP40SB
Coil: Napa P#:IC21SB

Went with the large distributer cap with requires an adapter.

D5TE 12127 EA // 5K8
D5TE-12127-EA = D5TZ12127E .. Distributor Assy (Motorcraft DA1428)

5K8 = Assembled October (K) 8, 1975 (5).

Original application: 1975/76 F100/350 360/390 with Breakerless (DuraSpark) ELECTRONIC Ignition.

1975/76 V8 dizzies do not use the base adapter. The adapter (D7VY12A217A) was first in 1977, when Ford changed the dizzy...again.

D5AZ12106A .. Distributor Cap (Motorcraft DH354).

D5AZ12200A .. Rotor (Motorcraft DR5A)

If you need a vacuum advance: D4OZ12370D (Motorcraft DD719)
------------------------------------------------------------------
Mitch:

ALL 1957/74 car/trucks (except Hipo's) used the same V8 dizzy cap (B7A12106A). This cap is BLACK.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1957/70 Hipo engines (289/302/312/390/406/427/428) used a different cap (B7AZ12106A). But...this cap, which is TAN, will also work on all other 1957/74 V8's.

Good luck finding a NOS original!
-------------------------------
1975/76 V8's: D5AZ12106A. This cap is BLUE.

1977/79 V8's: D7AZ12106A. This cap is GREY...and, it looks totally different than previous dizzy caps. This cap uses the adapter.

ND,
Is the 75/76 cap completely different than the rest? I know the 77-79 cap, adapter, and rotor will fit on earlier distributors, such as my Y-block's distributor.

According to the car/truck parts catalogs, D5AZ12106A (1975/76) is different than 1957/74 (B7A12106A), 1977 and later (D7AZ12106A).

There is another V8 dizzy cap (FAB12106A), used on 1954/56 Y-blocks.

Chain autoparts store parts personnel are usually clueless, depend on what the 'puter sez. The 'puter may be correct, or...it may not be.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least...that the OP was sold an FAB12106A dizzy cap.

Thanks all for the great information. It is so nice to make a post and then all of this great information follows. I am going to stop by my favorite locally owned parts store tomorrow to get replacement parts.
