Hello my son in heritate a wonderful 1966 ford from his grandfather in 2004 we had some jokester rewire the truck but it is completely wrong. We recently did it on our own and it is draining the battery. it has a new wiring harnass in it but it is all well you know messed up. At first he had no blinkers ,tail lights, brake lights. Now not only is it draining the battery when he steps on the brakes the headlights come on .. This truck needs a miricle but when we fixed it it all worked and still does. He had to drive home with no headlights the other night. Crazy kids.!! does any one have the proper wiring for this truck. we bought a alternator and battery and the regulator is new too. Any Ideas or plan would be great! other wise the truck is for sale for 6000. LOL actually it is priceless. Please help him... it means so much.
First and foremost, Welcome to the Family of Ford Truck Enthusiast, welcome to FTE. Sounds likely be dealing with the electrical gremlins for some time to come, the upside is once problems are worked out usually don't have to deal with them again. There is an electrical Diagram manual for the 66 F100-F750, purchased mine thru Motorhaven, FTE parts shop, and majority of the Ford part suppliers carry the manual, or can purchase directly from Jim Osborn reproductions website for about $7 plus s/h. Strongly suggest that you save your money and not purchase the laminated type sold on ebay. I replaced the harnesses on my 65, added couple extra circuits, and occasionally had to solve an electrical problem and found the manual invaluable. Again welcome, don't hesitate to ask questions, and have your son post pic's of his truck when, or if, he gets a chance.
I am still clueless to what to do but thanks for the help how to I post pictures... I couldnt pull up motor haven just took me to stickers...LOL dont thinnk those will help..
daveengelson is correct I bought the manual he has suggested and have been able to solve many of my electrical issues. For the price it is a great bargin.
Thank you I will check it out again. The electrical was a complete disaster his uncles tried to put all kids or stereo equipment and things in it and it is wasted... Maybe if i give the truck a beer it will function..lol Thanks again
