Time for brakes

I have a wonderful metal on metal sound coming from my rear brakes, so with 100k on the odo i thought it would be time for a complete brake job all the way around. I have to go up and down some pretty big hills every time I leave the house and my rotors get warped pretty fast, so I was thinking about going with some slotted and drilled rotors on the fronts at least. I'm sure somebody out there has run this set up, so I am wondering how you liked it?
Also what pads do you guys run, I see a lot of advertisements for the EBC Red, Yellow and Green stuff pads, what are your thoughts on these as well?

Thanks!

I have powerslots on all four corners of my truck. More important then the fact they are slotted, is the fact that they are cryogenically treated IMO. As far as pads go, Im 100% OEM. And you have to say OEM at the dealer or you will get the motorcraft aftermarket. They lasted over 100k on my truck and the rest of them at the shop. I had a set of carquest that I put on ONE time. Lasted 30k, and I chucked a pad, then ate up a caliper, and then lost the rotor aswell.. Never even heard the squeelers. Some will disagree with that, but thats been my past experiance. I love carquest brakes for "light duty" vehicles. Not for a diesel truck. The other pads I like are made by Hawk. People seem to like the pretty much.

I put cryo'ed PowerSlots up front with Hawk LTS pads. Still stock on the rear. Nice brakes, once they are broken in (VERY important).

I went with the ART setup on all fours, replaced the lines and fluid as well. Truck stops very well now.

ART setup is cryo'd as well.

NAPA Extreme Duty pads up front and the next step down in the rear. I have stock rotors all the way around without any vibes. I must say, the brakes on my wife's previous 2004 Cummins 3/4-ton were far superior to my current brakes. I really expected a lot more stopping power after the brake job on the PSD. Oh well.

I,m in need of some front brakes too, only got about 30,000 out of this last set, cheap set from Auto-Zone but my rotors I can get about another year out of my rotors so I'll throw another half decent set of brakes on it then next year do the powerslot and Hawk pads up-grade. Barry zx-250 mentioned to me about good deal on the Powerslot hawk pads he got a while back, maybe he'll chime in soon.

Check out Power Stop for slotted rotors.. (drilled not really recommended from what I have read for our trucks) .. They are great rotors and run about $70 each including shipping.. I also used their ceramic pads..

Don't slotted rotors constantly cut off a little bit of brake pad each time you use the brakes? Do you guys just tear through pads with the quickness when running those rotors? How often are you replacing pads with those slotted rotors?

When I destroyed the carquest pads, that was on stock rotors. With my powerslot cryo rotors, and OEM pads, I am around 50k at the moment. Probably do some maintenance this weekend, and I can give you the 32nds. Last I remember, they were in really good standings still.

Thanks for all the good info, so sounds like the powerslots and oem pads should work good. What should I be looking to pay for em?
Izzy what was your "break in" time like?

You're not alone... was it passenger rear? My truck and my buddies truck (late 99) both spit out rear pass. side inner pad. Just seeing out of curiousity

I ran a set of ART slotted rotors for about 90K without issue. Pad still had plenty of life left.
