Does anyone have any experience with the newer ceramic brake pads/shoes?
Some go under the name of "quiet stop". In the old days, the organic (asbestos) pads/shoes were softer than the rotors/drums, which resulted in the pads taking the wear, not the rotor (unless you wore the pads down to the rivets). The metallic pads are as hard as the rotor, which causes the rotors to wear along with the pad. These ceramics are supposed to be soft, like the old organics, and also, not supposed to squeak and squeal so much. Just wondering if anyone has tried these and how they stack up in performance and wear.
Thanks
So ceramic pads are the way to go? How will the brake dust be with them? I need new pads for my Focus because the dust is TERRIBLE. Is that what I should get?
I use ceramic replacement pads all the time. Performance is about the same as the original equipment which I think were semi-metallic. Much less wear on the rotors, almost no noticeable dust on the front wheels and yes they do not squeal when installed correctly.

I have em, I love em, make sure you bed them in properly, they will stop better and last longer.
