Brake Pads

So what brake pads are folks running and how are they holding up. I am looking at Wagner Thermo Quiet. I have used Advance Wearever Gold in the past with good results. I get about 50k out of the Gold pads on my Ranger. I have been through 2 sets on the same Chinese rotors without issue.

Something that bothers me about a lot of these newer pads is that they reduce the surface area on the pad which is probably going to put more stress on the rotor. So yeah your brakes work better but the rotor is taking some abuse.

Before you guys answer I am not looking for exotic slotted rotors and boutique pads.

Dont go with cheap stuff on the X. I went that way with the best rotors and pads on front and back. X didnt stop worth a damn. down right dangerous. spend the money and get good stuff. many go with powerslot cryo and hawk pads. works well for most. I went with ART rotors and pads. $$$$$ but well worth it. couple years old and no signs of warped rotors or overheated pads.

Hawk LTS or Superduty pads are absolutely fantastic on this truck. I went with the slightly less aggressive LTS pads since I tow on level ground (no grades) and they have been great for the last year. They don't dust much and have no squeal so I've been very happy with them.

I've always been a fan of Wagner's severe duty pads from O'reilly, they've held up well and gave the X some damn good stopping power. They stopped making Wagner Severe duty pads, so now I have the Performance Friction pads from O'reilly which work well, but I think my fronts need to be switched to the Performance Friction as they're running some wagners.

I have Hawk LTSs and PSrotors (all four) on my 00 and only on the front 2 in the 01. 00 stops quicker and I prefer to use her towing heavy. I haven't tried any other premium pad/rotor combos, but you should upgrade from stock.

Well I am not sure what is on there, probably some generic crap. One of my caliper slides is sticking so I might as well put some new pads on there as well while I am in there. They don't seems to be real aggresive.

I found the best price on ebay. Tire Rack sells them as well but were more expensive and wanted to charge for shipping. Here's a link - not the same vendor but actually a little better price.

I have the power slot rotors and tried Hawk pads and hated them. Ebc red is better for me, but everyone else likes the Hawks.
