So next month when I go home to Denver, I'll be doing something new and taking the train instead of driving.
I'll have to leave the truck in the train station's parking lot for over a week, and even though it's a small town, I'm a bit nervous about someone taking off with my truck or stealing my brand new tires and wheels. The station is in a commercial part of town, and unprotected.
I have a DP Tuner with the no start setting...but I was wondering what else I could do to ensure the truck wouldn't budge.
I've considered pulling fuses, and getting some locking lug nuts. I'm wondering if any of you have any brilliant ideas that'll help me keep a piece of mind while I'm on vacation.
Pull that little push connector off the fender mounted starter relay. That will kill power to the starter. You could also pull the IDM relay and replace it with a bad one or a dummy. That would allow them to break in, hot wire it and have the engine crank over, but the injectors would never fire.
I am having a hard time with this....I don't like the idea of leaving my truck there. Getting interference in the ride department.
Edit: Mark you're right, I don't like it at all. I got a ride THERE secured, but its the picking up that is becoming a problem. I'll continue to do some negotiating I guess.
Do you have a taxi service in your town?
Here in Seattle, it's a 24 mile trip from thier front door to my front door.
Long story, red-eye flight from Kawai last year and some friends dropped out from picking us up due to family members in hospital.
(Totally understandable reasons and I would have been mad at them if they had picked us up instead of going to see thier family at the time).
I caught a taxi and it cost me $80.00 to get home.
.
Just a thought, a taxi ride is cheap insurance compared to losing your cool, worrying about the truck in an unsecured location.

We do have Taxis here, unfortunately the train station is in another town about an hours drive from here. Would be super expensive, one of the reasons I decided on the train instead of flying was to save some money.

Drive up here to Detroit, Leave your truck at my house, I will drop you off at the train station, and pick you up....
Otherwise I vote for the #30 fuse.. Locking Lug nuts are only a deterrent though, they keep honest people honest, but when it comes down to it.
I will say, you guys have me pretty well convinced that I don't wanna do this to begin with. I won't enjoy my vacation if I am sitting there worrying about it.

You're a sweetheart. Why do I get the feeling my truck would come back to me with mods?
