I cant think of anything else that hasn't been suggested. A ride to the train station would be my pick. when you hit up Curtis, give me a call too, I still owe you.
Lisa,
Everybodys ideas are great if someone is going to hotwire your truck, I would be more worried about somebody grabbing it with a wrecker and hauling it someplace to strip it. I am having the same dilemma as I go to Hawaii in Feb. and fly out of Oakland, 2.5 hours away and I don't need to explain Oaklands reputation. I would look into staying the night at a nice hotel, some of them will let you leave a vehicle if you stay with them, otherwise check with the local cops about a safe place to park, i.e. parking garages, public buildings, etc.. We are suckers for a pretty girl and I am sure one of them can give you some safe options.
Good Luck and enjoy your trip.
Other than the suggestions mentioned by everybody else, I vote for the ride to the train station, no sense of worrying while your on your trip, that would bother me bad, you got a sweet truck Lisa, don't want to see another stolen truck thread. Just my honest opinion.
Maybe a combination of things? I know I once unplugged the harness taht goes to the shifter on the driver's side of the tranny and forgot to plug it back in. The truck won't start with it unplugged. How about that, the fuse, and a few other little surprises?
You know guys setting here thinking about it we are educating the criminals that hijack our trucks. I just did a google search on F-250 Anti Theft and this was just a few links down... They are getting smarter espcially the chop shops in the big cities just some food for thought
