Yep -- go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy the parts to make something like this:

Click the pick -- it will take you to my Webshots account with lots of pics of my 6.0L cooler install.

Joe, another dumb question I'm afraid.....
What sizes are those fittings? I have to buy everything from catalogs here, can't go and find them at the hardware store, so trying to get this same setup for my cooler install too. If you happen to know the NPT sizes and the barb sizes, I'd sure appreciate it.

Thanks,

You can make it work with a variety of parts, but if I was going to order it, I'd order the kit form BTS. They sell what you need with all the adapters and hoses.

Well, they don't have a "kit" as such on the website and it's not easy for me to call there. I can order all the components I want through my Grainger account and ship it with other stuff I need for the business so the parts will work fine if I know the sizes.
Thanks,

These are the ones I got from lowes. You will probably want two sets. IM004894.jpg picture by galexander - Photobucket

Ah OK, so basically everything is just to take two 1/2" hoses and put them back into 3/8" hose? Using a 90 along the way...... do these go right next to the new cooler returns?

Thanks all, not being *totally* dumb, just no Lowe's or HD for me to wander into here.

Yeah, the lines coming out of the cooler are 1/2 inch. I used about 4-6 inches of 1/2 inch line coming down from the cooler and into the 90's. Then routed them to the supply and return lines on the bottom passenger side of the engine. So you need about 6-7 feet of the 3/8 hose and about a foot of the 1/2 hose. Make sure the line is rated for tranny fluid.

just to let you know I did my 6.0 cooler with these fittings and it leaked on me. I used a high temperature paste and I screwed somthing up. So I ended up taking the fittings apart and soldering them together, so now they will never leak. Great mod.

If you have issues finding 1/2" trans cooler line (I did), you can easily find 1/2" power steering line. That's what I used.

Yes, thanks Joe, that will almost definitely be easier to find, and while we're on the materials handling capabilities specialty ...... Do you know if I can use 'Nylon' fittings? I realize they won't be as strong as brass under twisting or stress, but if they just 'hang there" the specs are -50F to 275F temp and 150psi working pressure, the same, or better than brass. It also says for marine and automotive applications and I can find a straight reducing barb with equal 90deg barb fittings in my books. What d'yall think of that? bad idea, or OK?
