Post Dual stabilizer's

Just received my order of Rough Country Dual stabilizers from Autotruck toys. I was wandering if anyone else has used there stabilizers? If so, did you get a boot for the stabilizer shocks. I thought that we needed them to keep the dirt off.

I have that kit, didnt come with boots. This is a common debate, alot will tell you no boots because they trap the crud, some will tell you boots to keep the crud out. I like the look of the boots and I dont go off road so I use them.

Where did you get the boots from? It would be great if you could supply a link.

Had a dual stabilizer kit with boots last year. Now have the same exact kit without boots.

They've been on since April. No apparent leaks. The dirt and crud stuck on there isn't oily at all. They work great.

With that said, having boots makes it look nicer.

Interesting side note and rather important: The metal brackets that bolt to the axle have a tendency of breaking at the bends. I decided to weld flat stock to form a triangle support, joining the two bends and strengthening the bracket. Enameled it and no stress cracks yet.

try your local auto parts store or a 4x4 shop in your area.

Yeah, just about anywhere sells them, they are abut $3-$4 bucks each. I got them locally at the 4x4 shop.

Just finished installing the kit. Boy what a difference it makes. I do have another question. When I was installing the shock I had to extend the piston to reach the tie rod hookup. I found that it took a great deal of effort to extend. Does this put undue stress on the steering gear/pump?

Is the dual stabilizer setup more for lifted trucks or would a silly fool like me with the stock setup benefit? Thanks

I am using a dual setup. All I have is the off-road tires. For me I did it because I like my steering to be a little more firmer, more feedback. Plus it helps when running thru the fields.
