The rubber trim on the outside of my windshield is pulling up at both upper corners. It's been like this for awhile, but I'm not sure how long. No evidence of leaks inside the cab. It will not stay down if I push on it and I don't think any kind of sealant or adhesive would help. Anyone seen this before or have any ideas how to fix it? I think I'll probably have to replace the whole thing.
That's probably what I'll do. They should be able to get the part and install it. I just thought it was odd, so I was curious if anyone else had seen this.
Have you given any thought to calling an auto glass company?
Was that a glass guy call?
What you have there is the rubber trim letting loose. They come installed on the glass before it is put in, and has a very thin metal insert in it. It is very hard to remove without damage to either trim or windshield to replace the trim. Any glass shop should be able to clean up in there and then use the proper primers and urethane to seal it back in place. They will glue and then tape, and probably even heat it some to soften it into place.
When ever we replace glass on superduty or X we always run a small bead seal on the inner edge of the trim pc to stop that from happening, but not everyone is as meticalus as the few.
I just did a search on this forum to see if anybody else had this problem because I just noticed this happened to me within the past few days.
Thanks for the info Wallz.
