ok i have a 07 cab and a half 5.4 150 4x4 electronic shift and when i put in 4 hi the light wont come on usually and no the build isnt burned out and i can hear it shifting and 4 low it lights up. any ideal on this? thank's
as i stated they are not burned out , both light when key first turned on and at times when putting four hi it does light.
Ah... way to read the original post... go me.
The 4x4 indicators have no direct link to the 4x4 system, the cluster receives the command to light them up via the CAN bus from the PCM, and if there was a problem with your CAN bus you’d have a lot more problems and flashing indicators. Which leaves you with 3 possible causes, a bad contact plate, which should produce a DTC, however you’d need an enhanced scanner to retrieve it, a bum cluster or a bum PCM.
I THINK this is the correct state for the shift plate.
In 4Hi:
White - open
Violet/orange - grounded
Light blue - grounded
Orange - open
hey there, I have the EXACT same problem with my truck. key on, 4x4hi is on steady for the bulb check. Put it into 4x4hi, the light will come on intermitently, sometimes it will go off for a while, then flash on and of for a while (like a loose connection flash, very inconsistent) then it will be on.
they replaced the iwe solenoid, the first person give me the ole bad connection on the bulb deal, when i took it in a week later i waited to talk with the sm who knows his **** and took it in kept it overnight because when he first checked everything worked fine, next morning bingo. dont think it takes long to fix it I just dont know where it is located for sure, yet. I think it may be on the passenger side fenderwell.
