Your best bet would be a wrecked truck in a junk yard to snag the hubs, transfer case and boot assembly off. Is there any way of protecting the components you have been having trouble with. Do you use 4X4 other than during the winter for plowing?
i asked when i bought my current truck and was told i need the manual t-case and linkage. about 1000$ in 03 now probably 1500-2000 if using new parts. with the problems i have had with my elec shift i wish i had done it years ago.
I only use the 4/wd to plow in the winter. and also when I have to pull my fifth wheel if it sinks where I park it in the spring. I cant stand this electronic junk. I think it is the motor again.
There usually aren't too many issues with the transfer case or shift motor. The vast majority of the problems on the 99-04 trucks is with the vacuum operated auto hubs. Many of the guys on here have replaced the front hubs with manual hubs from Warn or Mile Marker, and plugged off the vacuum lines. That usually solves 90+% of the problems.
Maybe it's just a relay that's only $6.00. It's a good cheap place to start trouble shooting.
already checked. all the fuses and relays are all good. I was under the truck for about an hour testing and checking eveything. I had a 4x4 specialist that did the work to the truck a year and a half ago and he is bewildered. but I am pretty sure it is the motor. if not idk what it could be. I am just glad I was done plowing when it decided to go. but i need to get it fixed quick before we get anymore snow. because I do quit a bit of commercial lots and a lot of driveways. so this is the wrong time for this 4.wd to act up.
