On my 84 F250 (in sig) my 4x4 light used to work. Now, it wont come on in hi or lo. It has manual hubs, but I dont think that they have anything to do with it. Is there a sensor that turns the light on? Also, I saw a light on my dash that seems to say "SHIFT UP" . What does this do? It never lights up, just wondering...
I would check the easy stuff first and make sure the light bulb did'nt blow. Most times disasembly and cleaning of bulb sockets is all that is needed, especially on these older rigs. Next I would make sure the 4x4 light switch wire is intact and clean on the transfer case.
As for the "shift up" light. I seem to remember that being a common thing in those 80's vehicles as a way of reminding you to shift at a designated RPM to save gas. Mose folks cut that wire right away because the flashing light was more distracting than anything else!
Check the switch by the transfer case lever underneath. The wire may of come off. That is the easy thing. dash lights aren't that easy but maybe your problem also.
