Yeppers !
When I leave the house too early am nice and hit both the garage remote and remote start as I'm walking out to the garage and it is usually cranking up just as I get in...
since I typically back into the third garage, I then put it in third to ease off and not be at high rpms clattering away
I believe there are special remote starts for diesels they have the "wait to start" function.
I kno this because i told the shop i work with that i need remote start and he goes.diesel right? i said yes he said i would need that module...but they prob run around 300 MAX for a really good one..so i would spend anything above that...
ALSO!!!: they have a thing for $100 where it would use ur stock remote..u would press the unlock button 3 times and it would trigger the remote start
I spoke with dealer, they want $600, so it's not off the table just yet.
For $600, you can get a heck of a remote starter that is much better than the factory one. More range (a mile or more in some cases), and more features like an LCD screen that confirms that your vehicle is doing what it should do.
Most remote starts have the delay feature for the diesel built in, it is just a matter of programming it. When I was looking for one for my gasser, the shops asked me if I had a diesel. If the shops you go to don't know about the diesel delay, talk to another tech or the manager. If they don't know about, RUN AWAY!
I've got the Autopage alarm/remote start. One mile range and has the diesel timer for both starting/glow plugs and for turning it off / letting the turbo cool down.
