G’day, I just picked up an 02 Supercrew. It came with a “Ford” remote starter. I imagine it was a dealer install for the previous owner. Anyways when I try to use the remote starter, it will crank the engine over but not fire. If I manually start the truck it fires up immediately. Any ideas how come the remote start wont fire?
Hey there, it was quite awhile ago but I ended up taking it a car starter place and they changed the anti theft module. I can't remember the price but I'm sure it was under $100
I'm out of town so I can't take a pic but it's nothing special. Just a generic key fob with no Ford labeling. I'm sure you can get a better non Ford remote starter. The Ford remote is an aftermarket one (for my truck 2002)
As mentioned earlier, it was quite awhile ago when I had the problem. I'm pretty sure it was the anti theft key by pass that went on mine. A way of testing it is to leave the key in the ignition and hitting the remote. If it starts then it's the bypass module. If it doesn't it could be the main module or hood pin. Hood pin senses if the hood is open or not to prevent it from starting when the truck is being services.
