My remote start has quit working after I installe the Spartan 210 hp tune. All that happens is the ign comes on and the PATS light flashes. After the 30 sec wait the horn beeps twice and the ign stays on but the truck is not running. If I have the truck running and I press the remote start the truvk will stay running once I remove the key. I got the installation instructions from Steve for the Ford gen 2 remote start and have gone through the setup which all checks out. One question. How do you know if it is in service mode? Would that not disable the starter? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
mine did the same thing. the module that lets the remote start work with the pats system looses its memory. what i did was take both keys out to the truck. put one in and turn it on, but don't start. wait for the pats light to go out. the stick the next key in and do the samething. then take that key out and do the remote start thing. i think it has to be done in five seconds or less. i bet that will fix you up. you also program new keys to your truck the same way.
I thought SPARTAN was a sponsor here, but I do not see them above. I see BANKS. Sometimes when crazy stuff happens after the aftermarket tune, shouldn't the first questions go to the tune outfit? I am more than 3 years away from any tune, if I still own the truck, but to me, I would ask the tune vendor.
I am still waiting to here back from the vender. The latest thing that I have found out id that it does not matter what tune is in it but if you put the key in the ign then press the remote start then pull out the key it will work. If you leave the key in the ign it will not start (safety feature). It has to have something to do with the PATS. The system is recognizing the key in but with the remote start it will not bypass the PATS. Thoughts?
jetguy, this is certainly strange issue, and the only instance reported. Our 2009 shop truck has the remote start and still works even with a very old pre-release test calibration in it.
I'll have Scott do some strategy code comparisons to try and determine what might be going on.
Have you tried returning back to stock and see if anything changes? If possible, please do and let me know.
Yes matt I have. I tried it a couple of times and it acts the same way with the stock tune. When I first installed the tunes everything went peerfectly. I had no issues what so ever. I only noticed the next day that the remote start did not work and it worked the morning before I installed the tunes. i guess it is possible that it is just a coinsedense. Could I remove my remote start module and install it in a budy's truck to see if the module is just bad?
mine has done the samething. even after returning to stock, it didn't work. doing the key thing fixes mine, but when the tune is changed it looses it again, even stock tune. my installer install a new pats module. this one has a relay involved for power so how. i have not looked at it yet or changed the tune, to see if it works. installer said they have had some trouble with the modules on some ford trucks.

It's possible that the module went bad around the same time, or it's possible that somehow the tuning is affecting it. I haven't had any other instances reported, but if anyone exhibits these symptoms with our device please let us know- it will certainly make diagnosis easier if there is an issue.
There are also two switches under the hood (one mercury switch on the hood itself, another a post switch with a rubber boot near the hood adjustment screws) that you might want to check. I know I've seen a handful of them being swapped at our local dealer.
