In the past I thought the FX4s came with Rancho Off Road shocks, can someone tell me what they are using on the O9 F150 FX4s? I looked at mine the other day and it looks like a standard OEM shock so if other than the skid plates what else to you get suspension wise with an FX4?
The pre-04 FX4's might have came with Rancho's. The 04-08 FX4's did not have Rancho's but did have slightly different factory shocks that were a little stiffer.
We weren't sure about the 09's but I believe somone looked in the Ford parts manual and only the front shocks were different on the FX4, but the rear shocks were the same part number for all models.
also it appears that you get differnent tuned shocks if you get the optional 20" wheels.
Is there a Ford inside guy on this forum that can definitively answer this? I heard it came with Ranchos but when you look at it...it looks like a standard shock. Are they different in the front on the FX4? And if it has the factory ordered 20"'s on it...are they tuned different? Just curious and wanna know what I got under me.
i got on and looked up the shocks on the 09 and i found
that ford has 10 different shocks and 2 of them are fx4
one is for 145 wheelbase
and for 126,133 wheel base
and for the rear shocks its all about payload no just fx4 shocks
but what makes the differents is the coils, ford has about 20 different one and i have figured them all out
Silver05FX4, I have an 09 Ford Supercrew FX4 with the short bed. By your research can you tell me what shocks I have in my truck? Also are these just stock Ford shocks or a heavy duty version?
What's on yours', Silver? And thanks for the previous info. Seems me and you have pretty much the same truck (from the factory) unless you have the long bed. I have the short bed and nav, single cd.
Resurecting this thread. To answer the question above addressed to me, I have the Ford 20" wheels.
my current question is: I am shopping for a set of Bilsteins and curious about the applications for my(our) trucks. I am getting conflicting results, if any, for applications for the 2009 FX4.
Anyone have any suggestions for venders? Part numbers?
Thanks everyone.
