Its Back....

Well I towed the boat over to the service dept. today for winterization. I was hoping my smoke issue went away...NOT!!! So I made the appointment yesterday with my dealer to have the truck looked at, and I dropped it off today cause shes smoking like a chimney. So bad infact that when I was stopped in traffic people were pointing and stuff. Atleast I got a good look at the color of the smoke...its like a greyish blue. So I am guessing that I have an injector going south. I also noticed that my EGT's are about 200* higher than normal...and thats with the tune out of the truck. Also the smoke just reeked of diesel.

The bad news is that they are bombarded with 6.4's right now so I will have to wait a bit to get the truck back. I will keep everyone posted. I also have them replacing the pinion seal while its up there...might as well get it all done.

Its gonna be a long couple of weeks without her...she will be missed

I think I will treat her to a new set of Bilstiens when I get her back.

looks like you've got a seal going south in your turbo.

Surprising since the 6.4 forum is saying that they are virtually trouble free. Not attacking them.

Yeah I was kindda shocked to hear that myself...but the dealer I go to only has 2 certified diesel techs. There is only 1 there that I will allow to do anything to my truck so unfortunately I have to wait for him...but I got old trusty on the road so no big deal.

Andy, what is this fine gentleman's name (PM is probably better, so it's not public)? I may need him when my aftermarket warranty runs out. I'm not, however, surprised by them being swamped. Our ambulance sat there for a month until they couldn't wait anymore and took it to Johnson Ford in Pittsfield. Johnson gives priority to emergency vehicles where Latham does not. I'm curious to hear what he figures the issue out to be.

not sure if the one who worked on mine those couple times was the same guy, but damned if they weren't some good folks over there. FINALLY figured out wtf was wrong with mine on the, what, fourth trip to a dealer? they WERE guilty of throwing parts at my engine as well as the deal up north of me here in KS, but on shot 2 (1600 miles before the END of my extended warranty) they finally got it right with the clutch/flywheel thing. i was extremely pleased with them and would recommend 'em to anybody needing work in that area.
