Well today was my day for the 6.0 bug to hit. I woke up to a coolant leak on the right side of the truck. Looks like it was comming from above the starter somewhere. They told me that it was condensation from the exhaust. Also have an oil leak that looked like it was laying by the bell housing. The dealership looked at it and told me that it was from the injector tubes..I think, I will know better when I pick the truck up and get the paper work. Does thois condesaion thing sound legit or are they just puffin the smoke.
There's no where for condensation at the exhaust to be created there. I could figure that there's a drip from the AC condensor. That's normal. What color was the water? If it's clear and clean, then I'd figure it to be OK. Not a radiator fluid leak. The oil leak is a different story though.
The fluid was clear but slippery not at all like water, stuck my finger in the coolant tank and the fluid in the tank was the same consistancy. I am wondering if I should trade now while its worth something and get an 06. I had planned on keeping this one for a while, and its only got 7800 miles on it. I love the truck but I hate the service dept. Iyts always a week to get it in and I always have to call the cuystomer care number to get a loaner. Once they get involved my truck always gets right in. Today they told me that in order to get transportation that i need to buy a 3,000 extended service plan. Like when I spent the 45,000 for the truck it wasnt enough. I just don beleive that they are doing whats right for the customer. They are allowed a certain amount for loaners on a case by case basis. Like I said I am frustrated but I love the product and like to go for service where I buy.
Gosh, only 7,800 miles and you've got issues. My truck did the EGR hickup thing, and all along the 22,000 miles I've been bragging that my truck hasn't been to the service department. Ever! Still hasn't. No CEL light with the darn wart disconnected.
No other issues with the truck. Zoodad, Bullydog turbo back exhaust. Gauges too. I've never been to the dealer for service, so I don't know how the local's are going to treat me. I have been to the local Jeep/Audi/Porche dealer. For the Jeep in for a manifold leak. They shuttled me to work and back. Now, although not a loaner, (not a warranty job), that's still pretty good in my book. Two days to get an appointment for that.
So, since I've probably got a code for the EGR disconnected, I wonder if they'll know how long it's been disconnected.

Did you buy this truck from the same dealer ? If you did they should be bending over backwards to fix your truck under warranty. If not I would be looking at finding another dealer that wants your business now and in the future.
The orange coolant coupler that joins the EGR cooler coolant feed tube to the oil cooler housing is most likely leaking when the truck is sitting and is running down the rear of the engine. Fairly common problem.
Yes this is the same dealer that I not only bought this truck from but 2 other brand new trucks as well, a 99 F-150, a 2003 F-250, and now this truck. I am considering buying another one. They said that my truck is worth 33,000 so I am wondering if I should trade up to an 06 now while mine is worth something or am I going to have the same problems with that one. I love the look and stance of the truck but its the service department that leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I have to leave the truck there all day for an oil change. They asked why I dont do regular service there and I told them it was unreasonable to leave my truck for a whole day to change the oil and filter. Besides that everytime they touch it it comes back filthy so its not worth the hassle. Seems to me they dont take any pride in there work or there customers. Thanks for the info on the oil cooler pipe. I am supposed to get the truck back today and we will see what they did or did not fix. Sometimes I wish I still had my F-150.
The truck goes to Metro Ford in Schenectady NY. I did het the truck back tonight, didnt see any leaks...yet. I am not really afraid of the seepage that settles on the bell housing it doesnt drip. The concern I had was for the coolant that leaked. Anyway when I get home I will read the paper work to see exactly what was done. Like I said the good thing for now is no coolant leaks. As for the 6.4, new motor new problems. I love the truck cant say that enough but if they could just get the service right. Anyway I was looking at the new ones and to replace mine will be 50,000. Tough nut to crack I think I will stick with what I have for now and buy an extended service plan. I will post the Tech Notes on my repirs later.
I used to take mine to Metro as well. Back when I used to live there. I've always had good service from them and usually got in fairly quick. I suppose things may have changed, but it's only been a little over 2 years. Hope evrything comes out positive for you in the end.
Sorry that it took so long to post the results of my service, the internet was down...imagine that. The coolant leak was the block heater leaking, the oil leak was both of the glow plug harnesses.. if someone could explain how a glow plug harness could create a oil leak I would appriciate it, and I had a bad exhaust back pressure sensor and the recall 05E15 was done. The truck is now running well after 3 days in the shop. The chugging is gone when first started, but the idle seems to be louder when warm. Everyting is good for now. Hopefully it will be a trouble free ride from hear on out. Thanks to you guys for all the help and support at a cery frustrating time. This site is truely the best.
Sarge..did they tell you your PCM was also re-programmed as part of the 05E15 recall? Well it was.... or they would not get paid for the warranty/recall. Mine went through the same exact recall and glowplug wire harness replacement. Truck definately runs noisier and mileage has not improved...'04 4x4 F-350 DRW 4:10 only gets 13-14 when empty--with a tail wind! But it runs like a scalded cat with an 11K pound travel trailer hitched on the back bumper.
