aod converter install?????

Can anybody tell me how deep the converter will be in the bell housing when properly seated??? The trans is in the car with about 3 inches between the trans and engine. so I have a little room to try and work it. Right now the converter looks like it would be in line to mate up with the flexplate. That is based on The ringgear pattern on the inside of the case. If that is right what is the trick to getting the converter to flexplate studs to slip through while mating the trans. Thanks Dan

The face of the converter should be about 1/4" to 1/2" below the face of the bellhousing when the converter is fully seated. If it isn't all the way down it's going to be REALLY hard to get it the rest of the way in with the trans that far in.

The easy way to get it to seat is to turn the trans so that the bellhousing is up. Spin the converter until it seats all the way down. This is the way it's seated at the factory.
