Flexplate info???

Does a '95 PSD have a different flexplate than a '96 PSD?

Looking at torque converters and it shows the 95 and earlier E4OD with a 4 bolt converter and the 96+ with a 6 bolt converter. So I'm assuming that they have different flexplates... am I right?

Also, where can I get a '96 flexplate if I end up needing one?

Too bad you didn't buy the flexplate from the goober you bought the trans from...
I honestly had no idea there were any differences.

I'm pretty sure you're right Evan, earlier are 4 bolt, later are 6.

All OBS PSD flexplates are the same. The IDI's use a 4 bolt TC I believe

I'll just have to take the inspection plate off and count the studs on mine I guess... unless someone with a 95 chimes in and tells me for sure.

I think the gassers had 4 or 5 studs and the PSD has 6

This is from Rasers X site

I would take it as EARLY meaning 7.3 IDI

The Eagle X4TC is a Racer X USA exclusive converter proudly made in U.S.A. Finally, a vastly improved torque converter for all early E4OD's, 7.3L IDI diesels and all gasoline engines that will improve performance!

X4TC is a 4 stud
X6TC is a 6 stud

I already did. I've owned 2 95's and have a 97 now.

Oops, forgot that you had owned those. So what improvements did you notice with the TC from Racer X? Will that converter and a valve body be sufficient to stand up to my Stage I's for a while?

I just don't want to put that trans in (has 25k on a rebuild) and have it blow up in a few months...

Its hard to tell since I went from a slipping slush box to a built trans but it seems tighter in its ability to transfer power. Clutch lock is nice but that was also modded with the new pump. All in all its more efficient in transferring power.

Who built your trans and what all is in it?

I was planning on the converter and valve body for now, then later on a full rebuild with the Racer X clutch packs and other parts. I just can't afford a rebuild on it right now and my 4x4 swap trans was rebuilt 25k ago.

Evan have you pulled that TC out to see if you can find a brand name or anything?

Evan, this is just my opinion, probably wrong, but if you do a good convertor and valve body, the trans will hold up just fine as long as you can keep your foot out of it too much. It all depends on your driving style, too much hotrodding and the internals probably won't hold up to long. Drive nice and it will last a long time, especially with only 25k on it. I drive nice as I don't want to spend that big money now either, first of all, don't have it!!
