So I have a rattle in my driver door that makes noise anytime bass or loud music is played.
It's rather loud, and turning up the music only makes it worse.
I've noticed that I have a lot of play on the arm rest, and when I press it in, the noise stops. I have popped off the switch panel and checked and tightened all the bolts, but the noise is still there. I'm thinking that it is the panel which is held in by snap clips.
Anybody have a decent solution to fix this noise? It gets irritating after 20 minutes.
Oh, and I know that if I turn the bass or volume down will help... but I like my music, and I like driving with the windows down.
Check the speaker wires, they can touch the glass when it is down and make an rattling noise, (the connector) I know mine did after I change them. SO I had to go back in with some elec. tape
Nope. No upgrade on the speakers. I did have a stealership do some work on that door before, So I'm thinking of just taking the whole panel off and really taking a look.
This was the same dealership that apparently has the worst reputation in Alberta for quality and service. Of course, I'm told this AFTER taking my truck there twice and having terrible service.
I would prob start by turning the music on and try to isolate it. (Sounds like you have). There are a couple of parts in the door that are too close together, and vibrate with the speaker. Pull the panel and keep feeling around til it stops, maybe a little tweak or bend will stop it.
Just remembered that one time I had a "buzzing" noise from a car door speaker area when the radio was up a little loud. Turned out it was the plastic liner between the panel and the door. A few pcs of duct tape tightened it up.
