Around here the norm is to cut off everything from the stock manifolds back and replace it with 1.5 or 1.75 inch pipes all the way to the back bumper.......They think it sounds cool... I think it sounds like the exhaust needs fixed.
Nothing sounds better then a well tuned exhaust system.
I have never heard of or seen anyone put that small of pipe on a truck before. Everything I have seen is at least 2 inch. Usually its 2.25 and 2.5. Most I see are 2.25.
I've had her over 6 years and I still get excited every time I fire it up.
I bet yours sounds pretty damn good. I'd like to hear it as well. I have a 3 inch single exhaust on my truck with a single in dual out muffler. It sounds good. I have a quiter muffler on it right now. Back when I had a regular 40 series Flowmaster on it with only 1 cat, it sounded great. I don't think duals are necessary for good sound. My friend had true duals an his truck (same as mine except 4x4) with the same mufflers and his truck did not sound any different.

Why would you put such a small pipe on it?
I think it is the small pipe high torque thing. Sounds just like they have a big hole somewhere.
There is a guy here who has an exhaust shop. He sells these systems installed for around $250. Everybody swears by him.......well, almost everybody....
I removed just my muffler/tailpipe on my 96 460 truck when times were tough. I sounded really good. Everyone always asked what kind of muffler i was running LOL. It just had a god awefull droan in the cab. Now I'm high rolling w Banks Torque Tubes, Y-pipe, 3" high flow cat,3" 20 series Flowmaster and 3" custom tube all the way out to behind the tire. I sounds like a Stock car.
I thought I responded to this but I guess my internet puked.
I had said I found it surprising that you would get drone with a simple muffler delete. There are no baffles to resonate. I always suggest just a muffler delete to guys who say they're on budgets. As long as you have Cats, it won't be too loud and it doesn't sound real messy. Even a 300 sounds okay with a muffler delete. Actually, the best 300's I've heard had both cats. When mine was just dumped (2 cats, no muffler) it sounded so much like a tractor it was amazing. Not a bad sound.

Bill. I only had a Y-pipe and my Cat. No tailpipe or turndown of any sort. And dont forget, my Crewcab cab is approx 3' longer than a reg cab. So it exited under the cab(i know, Not safe)

Ah, that's why. You wouldn't have had that drone if you had a full length tailpipe. I bet your whole truck vibrated when you took off, huh?
