Around here the norm is to cut off everything from the stock manifolds back and replace it with 1.5 or 1.75 inch pipes all the way to the back bumper.......They think it sounds cool... I think it sounds like the exhaust needs fixed.
Nothing sounds better then a well tuned exhaust system.

Like other posters said it's your truck but I would not put dumps on it but that's just my opinion.
I didn't dump it under the bed, its running out the stock tailpipe. I just have to get the cats cut off now.

Hey, did I freaking say cut off the cats and run nothing? Have you ever even just deleted the muffler? I meant leave the cats and replace the muffler with pipe.

Good job. You just made me die a little inside.

I wasn't talking about you. Did you read my post?

I was just telling everybody who cares to read my ramblings how the morons around here like to do it...and my opinion on that subject.

You should spend more time reading and less time posting....your post counts wouldn't be as high but you wouldn't look like a fool right now either.

Yeah this will be a good thread for somebody who just got their truck and wants a good sound from it. I sure do appreciate everybody's help. I will give an update when I get the cats cut off. I am going to see if there is a way I can hack them off myself and maybe run some flex pipe, but it looks like it will be a pain in the ****.

In some locations.....not sure where you live, they are doing visual inspections......If you want to get rid of the cats, remove them and use a pipe and a BFH to clean them out. Then put the empty shells back in. It is allot of work but better than a huge fine.

I removed just my muffler/tailpipe on my 96 460 truck when times were tough. I sounded really good. Everyone always asked what kind of muffler i was running LOL. It just had a god awefull droan in the cab. Now I'm high rolling w Banks Torque Tubes, Y-pipe, 3" high flow cat,3" 20 series Flowmaster and 3" custom tube all the way out to behind the tire. I sounds like a Stock car.

Owning Ford trucks all my life I have come to realize that you can do all you want as in cut off the cats, hog them out,or keep them both on and cut off the stock muffler, but the fact is they are quiet ,don't sound well straight piped with two cat or even a single flowmaster.I like loud exhaust but it has to sound good to and you can't make a ford pickup sound tough with single exhaust. This is just my opinion my ford had shorty headers into 2.5 pipes back to 2 flowmaster super 44s and 3in tailpipes and sounds awesome.I will try to get a thread up asap, don't get me wrong I have gutted converters, cut them off and tried every combo and I like this one best,it has all the flowmaster tone when cruising but when i jump on it she really rumbles. It's all in the pipe you use.You can't use no puny 2.25 pipe you gotta let these things breathe and I think 3 in gives these the best sound and where I live there is no emissions tests or visuals or anything so if I was you and you said there is none of that where you live either I would not even waste my time or money on any exhaust until you have the money for true duals.

A good post! Nothing sounds better then a properly built tuned exhaust! I'd love to hear it.
