My shifter is quite loose on the column and sometimes it won't start in park. Sometimes I have to push it up further to work. Once in a while it won't start in park no matter what I do. If I put it in neutral it will start then. Is there a wore out bushing or something in there affecting my neutral saftey or what?
Thanks guys

the shifter wire will stretch over time but IIRC there are some screws you can tighten in the steering column...some of the gurus will probably chime in here in a min
maverick is right, two i think 10mm bolts on the end of the shifter that you can see under the dash while lying on the floorboard. Look up with a flashlight and have someone wiggle the shifter. You'll see it right off. Tighten and your golden
either that or there are 2 plastic bushings in the steering column that can go bad too. i'm sure the others no better than i do though. i know there are bushings but i would try the tightening first. i'm a 5 speed guy so i don't know anything about autos... LoL
Thanks for all the help again guys. Holy crap, I looked under there and one was almost completely out and the other was backed out 1/4 inch or so. I feel like a dumba$$ not looking under there before. I always had a hard time getting into reverse. It would go past to neutral a lot. Tighten two bolts and good to go. I can even notice all my detents good now. That arm was just slopping all over under there.
Again, thanks for the easy fix. Wish they were all like that.
