Why don't we have more people going to the moon, than we do? Seems like we stand to be able to study it more than further planets like Mars. Why is Mars such a goal? From what I have seen, it looks like a dusty, cold desert.
OK a couple things-- we don't go to the moon because it isn't profitable-- spend millions to get there for-- a few rocks and dust. Secondly Mars will be the first other Planet we have been on--- (the moon is not a planet technically) So we will spend millions of dollars to get there for some rocks and dust.. The difference is that once we are on mars we can use that to jump to other planets or moons or asteroids-- to spend billions of dollars to get there to bring back rocks and dust... Mostly its a status thing--- We got to the moon first see how great we are--- see our rocks and dust.---- we got to to Mars see how great we are, look at our rocks and dust.
