I read on this site, that Ford stopped putting the code on parts of the car a few years back.
IF there is a tag, I have been told it is often found on the computer, or the driver door control module. It ials has been said to be in the places you mentioned.
The owner's manual used to tell you where to look for the code. Also there is a "credit card" in the manual case that has the code.
If that doesn't work, then you need to take it to someone who can read the code, usually a dealer. Most dealers I have seen charge about $100 just to read the code. Some will do it free if you are a good customer.
Good Luck, I never had any finding my code on my Lincoln,
behind which one bill, the ashtray, or the glovebox??
The small drivers side glovebox. Take it all the way out, and dig around up as far as you can reach, plus a little farther. Some guys used a little mirror to reflect the numbers.
ok thanks guys. i will look tomorrow.
this is actually for one of the welders on the pipeline job i am on. he got a good deal on the truck, but it does not have the owners manual or the code card, and the dealer did not know it.
with these threads and the laptop in the truck to reference the threads, i am sure we will find it.
They were in a lot of different places but not on the 00 and 01. If you can't find it you can use the hacking method which usually only takes 5 to 15 minutes.
