I just bought a 2001 S'crew with keyless remote and a keypad. The used car lot did not know the keypad code and one of the keyless remotes needs to be reset.
I'm most concerned with the keypad - how does one reset that code?
Your 2001 is equpped with a Central Security Module so you will need to have the dealer retrieve the code from the module with NGS scan tool. The remote can be programmed following the procedure in the owners manual provided the remote works.
someone told me that you can find the code underneath the dash. What do you all think of that? If someone knows where it is, I would sure appreciate a head's up on where I can find it. Thanks!...j
What is your production date. Vehicles built before Oct 2, 2000 of the 2001 model year had RAP module, and all others after that had Central Security Module.
I have a 96 Explorer and experienced the same problem when I bought it from a used car lot. The original code is stamped on the outside of the module and if the owner(s) before you didn't change it you will be able to retrieve it off the module. I don't know where your's is located but the owners manual or any dealer should be able to tell you.
Mine was located inside the rear qtr panel. I was able to use a mirror and obtain the code without removing the module and several other items. I was lucky because the code had never been changed and within minutes I was able to use the keyless touch pad. Then I followed the instructions in the owners manual and reset the code to one that I was able to remember.
I have an Expedition and the location would be the same on F150. Here is a pic of where you would find the RAP module if equipped with the code on the label. The Central Security module according to EVTM is mounted in about the same place but I have no pic of that. Look in this general location and you should find what you are looking for. Its at the firewall on the far left side up under the dash.

MAD PROPS to my wife, Homer!! While you were posting, my wife found out that the code was located on a "module underneath the driver's side" - your photo exactly, dude. So when she told me that, I went out and found the module (bless her pea picking heart, she beat me outside but I didn't give her enough time to find it before I told her to GET OUT and let a MAN in there!! - she'da found it sooner or later though...that's the kinda gal she is - hell, she drives a 113 ci custom built Softtail with 14" apes for crying out loud! Damn, I love that woman!! https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=255567
So I came in to champion my wife and there your spot-on picture was. THIS FORUM RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All hail the mighty FTE!!
Glad you and your wife found it.. You are a lucky man. My wife has me even gas up her car. She only wants to know where to put the key and lets me know when its on "E"
LOL But we have been together for 31 years so I guess Ill keep her.
I would advise that you key in a second code and use that as your access code. The system has the ability to be activated by two codes: The code stamped on the label on the RAP module, and a second code that can be added by the owner. To add the second code:
1). Key in the five-digit code found on the RAP module;
2). Within five seconds, press the [1|2] button on the keypad;
3). Key in a new five-digit code.
You will now have two active keypad codes. In the event the second code is discovered by someone who shouldn't know it, a new second code can easily be keyed in using the steps outlined above. The original code, if I recall, can't be changed unless a new RAP module is installed.
Looks like we both have keepers, John! 31? I've spotted you a few, but I'll get there!
By the way. I read your Missing Michelle link. My wife and I cannot express our sorrow appropriately enough. We are certainly offering up our own little prayer for her (and you). May the Lord bless you with the strength to perservere as you are doing right now, my good brother, and know that Ezekiel will ring true for her. “The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.”
Thanks very much,especially for the prayers. It's largely the kindness and encouragement of good people as yourself that has made this long and tragic journey bearable. I will reinforce the armor with your kindly posted passages. The Word is mighty..
