That's a "what if" situation. And if that "what if" ever happens, then of course you would spend the cash to replace. But what if that "what if" never occurs?
Wow, you've saved over a hundred bucks! And depending on where you get the actuators and how many doors you have, possibly even two-hundred! (Or cheaper if you use the same ones Damons posted about)
I'm not sure why it doesn't make sense to do in your situation since you haven't elaborated, but hey, I'm not trying to make you save money.

One of our dogs has stepped on the buttons before. I had the windows down, so we weren't locked out. It's a "when" situation.
I'm not sure if it was my yellow lab or the wife's heeler/black lab mix, but it was one of them. I think it was my wife's dog because he can't sit still for more than a millisecond once my wife walks away from him.
For me, it is not so much about the cost savings, but more of the time savings. It was easier for me to fit this into my schedule by just replacing the door locks actuators, than trying to find the time to tear everything apart, fix it and put it all back together.
I bought my truck with none of the actuators working except the driver one would work once every 1/2 hour but would not go up and down constantly. I ripped the passenger one apart and did the tin foil fix on it and I was amazed on how good it worked, I am now going to do it to all the rest of the actuators. 99 F250 7.3
my blue heeler pup DID lock me out once. i had the window barely cracked,...had engine problems in the middle of a highway ( down in southwest texas) no buildings insight for least 70 miles. with the engine running, i stepped out to look at the truck, close the door, and my pup stepped on the lock button locking me out. it was a pretty bad day.
I just finished the other 3 doors it took me about 2 hours to finish and for the first time all my door locks work, I couldn't fid any pictures of this actuator fix so I took some and will put a link. 1999 f250 super duty 7.3 ImageShack(TM) slideshow
