I passed on a96 due to a coolent problem, but I have access to a 95 AWD in a repo lot that looks nice. $500. The problem is that is locked up tight with no keys. Been sitting in the bullpen for six months so the battery is dead.
How does get a key?
I once had to get a key made for a car where someone lost the originals. I had to dismantle the steering column to pull out the lock barrel. Back then, dealers could still cut a key with a hand cutter based on the tumblers in the barrel. So the key was the exact pattern that it should be, not a generation made by copying the pattern off of an existing key. Unless you get a new lock barrel (or set to replace all of them in the van), this is how you would have to get a new key. Most dealers don't do this anymore, so you would have to take it to a locksmith. Since he may not have the exact key cutting tool for Fords, he will have to custom cut it, so he will charge you by the hour. Fortunately with Ford keys, he only needs to cut one side. So you can check to see if this is cheaper than getting a whole new set of barrels.
find the right Ford dealer parts shop manager and take the VIN to them along with proof of ownership such as title.
the right dealer can get keycodes from FoMoCo Detroit back to the mid 80s models.
they charge dearly.

cheaper to buy new barrels w/keys and install
Actually Ford Dealers can only go back 10 years for the key code, unless you still have the plastic/metal tag that has the code on it for the key.
A locksmith can cut a Ford key for the igintion quite easily, and I would say for around $50. And if you have AAA, then it is free.
When I changed my drivers door, the lock from the old door did not fit the new door. The locksmith was able to adjust the barrel to my key. I believe the barrels will adjust to any Ford key of same era.
If you have the keys for the locks, you can pull out the barrels, which will allow you to get at the tumblers. You can swap those into the barrel that works for you.
my advice - with thin steel wire open sliding window. If you can't - drill out two plastic riviets lock clump is held with, sl.windiow lock is a cheap thing, then you can open any front door, press unlock button and open all doors.
then you can change all barrels/cylinders and get new keys.
Tagging on to Pablo's thought, I've been able to get into my locked(with keys in ignition of course) Aero thru sliding window with old wire coat hanger. Note I say old. Newer ones are pretty flimsy.Cut off twisted section and be patient.
I hope no car thief reads this thread now. One my friend was car thief when he was young and silly. No he has car body shop and repares locks and keys. I work with him, becouse I can log off old immo keys and program new (on mercedes trucks). he always do google before he opens a new car... so be carefull here.
After slipping the latch on my Aero, I immediately moved my spare door keys for all vehicles to my recently purchased wallet; carried them for years in my old one. I also taped latches so a coat hanger can't get a grip on latch lever.
