2017 Explorer XLT remote start & intelligent access key programming
2017 Explorer XLT remote start & intelligent access key programming
Below questions are in re: 2017 Explorer XLT with 315mhz intelligent access keys and no factory remote start
1) The Ford owners website specifically gives a procedure to self program additional intelligent access keys assuming that you already have your two working keys. The owners manual says it must go to the dealer.
Various forums are split on this topic, some unclear as to do the vehicles being discussed exactly match my vehicle (may have been different intelligent access keys or model years?)
Has anyone out there completed the self programming on a 315mhz intelligent access key on a 2017 Explorer XLT with no factory remote start?
2) In reference to remote start, I know that Ford sells a plug and play add on system that includes a Perimeter Plus VSS module, long range antenna, and separate FOB's , that needs activation by the dealer in IDS once installed. Does anyone have a link specifically to the 2017 installation instructions? The best I can find are the 2013-2015 instructions.
3) I have seen at least one forum specifically state that on a vehicle without factory remote start with intelligent access , all one has to do is get remote start enabled in IDS, with no new hardware added, and that the vehicle will then remote start with 3 presses of the door lock button on the intelligent access key. Has anyone out here at FTE actually done this on a 2017 Explorer XLT with no factory remote start and a 315mhz intelligent access key?
4) Not interested in aftermarket remote starts at this time.
Thank you
Jeff H
