e85 vs 87

If/when they make it worth my while (like the do with E85, selling it for ~30c/gal less then 87 octane), I'll change my mind. But I REFUSE to pay more for less.
E85 will make more power than 87 octane in the right application
because E85 is over 100 octaine and some street stock car racers use for that reason its cheap and more octaine

That's right. Which is why I decided to stay away from Bio for the time being. B5 would be fine with me. B20, maybe. But no way for B100 at the same price as D2. I have done it a few times, and I might run B20 now & then (once or twice a year) to keep it all squeaky clean.

Just wanted to clarify...

I am new to diesel. I have been running DK (silver), but got some Howes the other day when I was getting ELC coolant. Turns out they are a local company, I went right past them to get to Ocean State Oil (only place I could find Rotella ELC). So I got some when I was at the oil place.

No experience with Howes but they will pay the tow if you use their winter stuff and you fuel gells. Howes Lubricator

I just got B100 (another local place) in a jerry jug. It was $2.59 gallon and fuel was $2.57 at the pump around the corner.

There's fine print involved if you want the free tow. Seems like you have to register and a few other things.

Nothing wrong with the Howes additive. As a matter of fact, they seem to be the only additive manufacturer that makes a bottle strong enough to bounce around in the bed without getting a hole, and they've also mastered that tricky feat of providing a lid that will not leak if the bottle is laid on it's side. Don't know why that last part is so hard for the folks at DK or Stanadyne to master.

I took a recommendation from a friend and am trying BG Diesel Fuel Conditioner with DPL. Supposed to be an injector cleaner with lubricity added. I have only used one tank so far and I have heard a difference in the start ups. My 7.3 purrs now first thing in the morning instead of the rattle it used to have. Will keep the board posted on results. Supposed to help with performance and mileage so I have been told. Will try it for a little while.
